Ship model kits are plastic scale models of warships and civilian vessels — battleships, aircraft carriers, cruisers, destroyers, submarines and sailing ships. P-Rex Hobby stocks Fujimi, Aoshima, Hasegawa, Hobby Boss, Flyhawk Model and Bronco, led by 1/700 waterline kits and 1/350 full-hull builds.
What counts as a ship model kit?
The subject floats: naval and civilian vessels, their aircraft complements and photo-etch detail sets. Aircraft on their own are in Aircraft Kits, ground vehicles in Military Vehicle Kits. Science-fiction ships such as Space Battleship Yamato are treated as machines and live in Mecha Model Kits.
Scales we carry
1/700 — the standard naval scale and the largest part of this range; waterline kits let a whole fleet share one display.
1/350 — full-hull builds with deck detail, railings and individually molded fittings.
1/200 and larger — showpiece kits for a single hero ship.
Photo-etch and detail sets — railings, radar, aircraft and rigging upgrades from Flyhawk and others.
