MGEX Gundam (Master Grade Extreme)

MGEX (Master Grade Extreme) is Bandai's high-end brand within the 1/100 scale Master Grade line, launched in 2020. Bandai describes MGEX as a brand that pursues "extreme expression": each kit is built around a single theme, combining Bandai's Gunpla technology with different materials. The first kit was the MGEX 1/100 Unicorn Gundam Ver.Ka (September 2020), followed by the MGEX 1/100 Strike Freedom Gundam (November 2022), whose gold inner frame uses three types of plating.

MGEX sits above the standard Master Grade (MG) line, which Bandai introduced in 1995, also at 1/100 scale. MG Ver.Ka kits are Master Grade releases designed by mecha designer Hajime Katoki; they stay in the MG line. For the largest scale, see Perfect Grade (PG) at 1/60. Our grade guide compares every grade, and the MGEX guide covers each Master Grade Extreme kit. The suits come from Mobile Suit Gundam UC (Unicorn) and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED.
