Four years on, MGEX is back — and its third entry is the first Gunpla ever to use Mechanical Core Plating on coloured plastic.
The Mighty Strike Freedom is Kira Yamato's final machine in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM, formed when the Proud Defender docks with the Strike Freedom Gundam Type II and trades its DRAGOON wings for a vast white-and-gold assembly. MGEX is Bandai's showcase tier, each kit built around one extreme idea; here the theme is radiance, and the entire kit is engineered around how light moves across it.

- Theme: expression of radiance. Mechanical Core Plating is applied to coloured plastic parts for the first time in Gunpla history.
- Built on the MGEX 1/100 Strike Freedom Gundam frame — the most extensive frame-linked articulation in MG history — with newly sculpted parts throughout.
- Gold sections completely reworked with multiple types of gold plating, Extra Finish, and Real Metallic Gloss Injection for layered golden tones.
- The Disruptor is recreated in its deployed state through interchangeable parts.
- Kira Yamato and Lacus Clyne figures for the cockpit, a seated Lacus for the Proud Defender, and a standing Lacus that mounts on the chest to recreate the film's closing scenes.
