ZGMF/A-262PD-P Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam is the machine Kira Yamato flies in the closing battle of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom (2024 film, C.E. 75). It is the ZGMF/A-262B Strike Freedom Gundam Type II docked with the MDE262S Proud Defender support craft, with Lacus Clyne in the second seat.
What it does in the story
During Compass's operation to destroy the rebuilt Requiem, the Strike Freedom Type II is pressed hard by the Black Knight Squad's Shi-ve.A and Cal-re.A. Lacus brings the Proud Defender in, Kira releases the Super DRAGOON wings and docks with it. The combined machine then takes the Cal-re.A's barrage on a nanoparticle barrier and answers with the same particles as a wide electrical attack.
What makes it different
The Proud Defender is the other half of it.
Compass built the support craft for the STTS-909 Rising Freedom Gundam and reassigned it when that programme fell behind. It docks as a backpack in place of the Super DRAGOON wings and generates the nanoparticles used for both defence and attack.
The forehead cannon needs the pack to fire.
The EQM-Y148 Convergent Heavy Nucleon Beam Cannon, the Disruptor, sits behind the crest and draws more power than the suit can supply alone. Its beam breaks atoms apart and suppresses fission, so what it touches disperses rather than exploding, and releasing it requires clearance from both Kira and Lacus.
The nanoparticles are a shield and a weapon.
They can form a sphere that blocks attacks from every direction, or discharge a high-voltage burst over a wide area. Fed targets by the Multi Lock-On System, that burst can strip missiles, remote weapon pods and ships out of the air in a single pass.
It carries a physical katana.
The AVS Futsunomitama is stored on the Proud Defender and was originally designed for the ORB-01 Akatsuki Gundam. It is fitted because the Kingdom of Foundation's Femto Technology Armor resists beam weapons, and Kira swings it alongside a beam saber.
How big is it?
Overall height: 18.88 m
1/144: roughly 13.1 cm

Frequently asked questions
1. Is the Mighty Strike Freedom the same as the Strike Freedom?
No. This is the Strike Freedom Type II with the Proud Defender attached, so the barrier, the electrical attack, the Disruptor and the katana all come from the support craft. The Strike Freedom from the 2004 television series is a different design two decades older.
2. Why does Kira need a co-pilot?
Lacus runs the Multi Lock-On System while the suit is docked, which is what lets the nanoparticle burst be aimed at that many targets at once. She also has to authorise the Disruptor, since Compass rules require both the president and the supreme commander to clear a shot.
3. What happens to the Super DRAGOON wings?
They are released before docking. The Proud Defender takes their place on the back, and the remote weapon wings the Strike Freedom Type II had been using do not come back once the support craft is attached.
4. What is the Futsunomitama for?
It is a solid blade, which is the point: the Foundation's Femto Technology Armor is built to shrug off beams, so a physical edge is the answer. It was drawn up for the Akatsuki before being moved onto the Proud Defender for this machine.
