The US Navy Elco 80’ Motor Patrol Torpedo Boat Late Type represents an evolution of the Elco’s PT-103 design, boasting enhanced firepower capabilities. With a length of 80ft (24.2M), a beam of 20ft 8in. (7M), and a displacement of 56 tons, this formidable vessel is powered by three sets of 1,350 horsepower Packard 4M-2500 V12 gasoline engines, achieving a remarkable top speed of 43 knots. This late-type version was developed in response to the increased presence of Japanese armed landing craft and transport in the Pacific islands, featuring lighter roll-off type Mk 13 Torpedoes instead of the early torpedo launch tubes. Its formidable arsenal includes a 20mm Mk4, a 37mm T9 automatic cannon, a 40mm Bofers, and a Mk50 5in. 8 tubes rocket launcher, alongside additional armaments procured by the crew.
