The Minegumo, a formidable member of the Asashio-Class destroyers, was known for its exceptional size and the deployment of the devastating "Long Lance" torpedo. These ships were marvels of engineering, equipped with six 12.7cm guns and a comprehensive array of AA armaments. Despite their impressive build and armament, the Asashio-Class destroyers faced a grim fate during WWII, with each one being sunk. The Minegumo met its end in the Blackett Strait in 1943, following a brief yet overwhelmingly uneven engagement with an entire US Task Force. This model kit commemorates the Minegumo with decals for the IJN 9th Squadron, 1943, allowing you to recreate a piece of naval history.
