Description
[E12] 1:72 F-15J Eagle J.A.S.D.F. — a 1/72 scale aircraft model kit from Hasegawa of the F-15J Eagle, the mainstay interceptor of the JASDF.
The JASDF selected the F-15 from among many candidate aircraft as the successor to its F-104J interceptors. Early JASDF F-15Js were broadly equivalent to the F-15C, with JASDF-specific modifications including the J/ASW-10 data link system for receiving interception control from E-2C early-warning aircraft, and an antenna change at the tip of the vertical tail. Airframes have been improved year by year under the MSIP program, and some are being modified to carry the domestically produced AAM-3 air-to-air missile.
The kit includes markings for 6 different JASDF aircraft, including the 201st SQ (2nd AW), 202nd SQ (5th AW), 203rd SQ (2nd AW), and two aircraft from the 204th SQ (7th AW).
