Choose your paint system

Lacquer

Mr. Color, Mr. Color GX and SMS give the toughest film and are the airbrusher's standard. Thin and clean up with Mr. Color Thinner and work with good ventilation.

Water-based

Aqueous Hobby Color and Acrysion have a milder odor and clean up with water before they dry, so they suit an indoor desk setup by brush or airbrush.

Markers

Gundam Markers for panel lines, touch-ups and metallic detail, with no mixing or clean-up.

Spray cans

Mr. Color Spray and surfacer and clear in rattle cans give even coats without an airbrush.

Prep, finish & weather

Surfacer to show flaws and help paint grip, thinners for smooth airbrushing, Mr. Hobby topcoats in flat, semi-gloss and gloss, metallics and Mr. Weathering washes for the final look.

• The Scale Modellers Supply (SMS): acrylic lacquers formulated to airbrush straight out of the bottle, in Premium and Metallic ranges, plus four-bottle Colour Sets such as Beginners, Mecha and Liquid Gold.
• Gaahleri: Kaleido ColorWorks RapidAir paints, a water-based acrylic that comes factory pre-thinned for airbrushing. Sets include 12 and 24 Color Primary, 24 Color Mecha and 12 Metal Colors.

FAQ

Can I mix Mr. Color, Aqueous Hobby Color and Acrysion?

No. GSI Creos says Mr. Color mixes only with Mr. Color and Mr. Color GX, Aqueous Hobby Color should not be mixed with other model paints, and Acrysion cannot be mixed with Aqueous Hobby Color or Mr. Color.

Which Mr. Hobby paint has the least odor?

Acrysion. GSI Creos designed it to keep organic solvents to a minimum for very low odor. Aqueous Hobby Color is milder than Mr. Color but still contains organic solvent, so GSI Creos advises good ventilation for both.

Spray can, airbrush or hand brush?
