Discover the pinnacle of model aircraft kits with the Special Hobby's latest offering, a crafted replica of the iconic aircraft designed in 1939 at the behest of the Imperial Japanese Army. Tasked with creating a successor to the Nakajima Ki-6, Tachikawa Aircraft was instructed to develop a multipurpose advanced trainer aircraft. The specifications were demanding: an all-metal construction, twin-engine with retractable landing gear, and capacity for 6 to 7 passengers. Drawing on their experience with the Nakajima Ki-47 and the Lockheed Super Electra, Tachikawa's prototype took to the skies in 1940. Following a slight refurbishment based on its initial flights, it was officially adopted in 1941 as a premier twin-engine advanced training aircraft.
