Description
Discover the iconic Diamond T980/981 Tank Transporter, a pivotal heavy tank transporter that played a significant role during and after World War II. Crafted by the renowned Diamond T Company in Chicago, this truck stands as a testament to the company's legacy in producing durable military vehicles. In 1940, the British Purchasing Commission sought a vehicle capable of hauling larger and heavier tanks for the British Army. They turned to American truck manufacturers, and the Diamond T Company, with its rich history and a recent prototype that nearly met the British specifications, quickly adapted their design. With minor modifications, the Diamond T 980 (later evolving into the 981) was born, swiftly fulfilling an initial order for 200 units. This vehicle became one of the most successful and memorable heavy tank transporters of its time.
