Making its maiden flight in August 1938, the I-153 quickly proved its mettle. Between 1939 and 1941, a total of 3,437 units were produced, marking a significant period in aviation history. Notably, in the early part of 1940, 93 of these formidable Soviet fighters were delivered to the China Guomindang Air Force, where they served valiantly until 1943.
