Discover the Vanguard, a crafted single-seat fighter model kit developed by the renowned American company Vultee on the eve of World War II. Known within the company as the V-48, this aircraft made its maiden flight in September 1939, featuring a sleek, narrow nose designed to minimize air resistance. The V-48C variant, embraced by the Swedish military and dubbed the J10, was part of a significant order of 144 units. However, following the enactment of the Lend-Lease Law in 1941, these aircraft were exported to Sweden, leaving the U.S. military with about 50 units designated as P-66 for combat training purposes. The remainder found their way to Canada through the United Kingdom as lend-lease aircraft, earning the nickname Vanguard. Initially allocated to the Air Force of the Republic of China in February 1942, many of these aircraft were lost in transit or training accidents, with only a few reaching the National Revolutionary Army. Despite seeing actual combat and engaging with Japanese Army aircraft, most were destroyed in air raids while grounded, leading to their retirement without notable achievements.
