Ayanami Rei -Japanese Doll- 1/4 Scale Figure from Evangelion — Vol. 20 of the Yoshitoku x F:NEX "Japanese Doll Figure" series, made to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Evangelion.
This collaboration between the long-established Japanese doll maker Yoshitoku and FuRyu's F:NEX brand uses authentic kimono fabric. The color scheme of blue and silver, reminiscent of her plug suit, is accented with red and salmon pink.
The costume prototype was created by doll artist Ayumi Uyama, drawing on the movements of traditional Japanese dance. The kimono fabrics were produced with Nishimura Shoji Shoten, a long-established textile merchant in Kyoto, and the obi uses kinran (gold-threaded brocade) from Mori-san, a Nishijin weaving workshop in Kyoto.
