Description
Discover the legendary Yamato-class battleship, the largest of its kind, brought to life in this detailed model kit. After Japan withdrew from the Washington Naval Treaty in 1934, it embarked on the development of the Yamato-class battleships, which boasted an impressive displacement of 64,000 tons, were armed with nine 46 cm main guns, could reach speeds of 27 knots, and measured a total length of 263 meters. The Yamato, as the first ship of its class, was constructed at the Kure Naval shipyard, launched in 1940, and played a significant role in the Pacific War as part of the Japanese Combined Fleet.
Despite its formidable presence, the Yamato saw limited action in battles, earning it the nickname ‘Hotel Yamato’ among officers. Its final mission in 1945 ended tragically when it was sunk by U.S. aircraft, resulting in the loss of 2,498 crew members. The wreckage of the Yamato, explored by researchers from the city of Kure in 2016, serves as a somber reminder of the war's devastation.
This model kit allows you to recreate the iconic battleship with incredible detail and accuracy. Whether you choose to display it as a waterline model or a full-hull version, this kit includes everything you need to bring a piece of naval history to your collection.
- [Mold Color]: Grey, dark red, clear, black.
- [Includes]: Decals and stand.
- [Size]: 375mm long when complete.
Included stand pegs make it easy to display your model as a full-hull kit, offering a stunning tribute to the Yamato's legacy.
