The VF-22S Sturmvogel II is the commander's version of General Galaxy's VF-22, the production form of the YF-21, and the machine Max and Milia Jenius fly in Macross 7.
What it does in the story
The VF-22 entered service in 2042 as a special-operations aircraft. On the Macross 7 fleet the Jenius machines are licence-built airframes; Max's machine flies as Blue Geyser in Operation Stargazer.
What makes it different
Command communications.
The S adds the communications capacity a squadron leader needs; Max's is pale blue and Milia's red, repainted from his spare.
Most of the brain link removed.
Production VF-22s dropped the YF-21's BDI for manual controls with brainwave assistance, a visibility-first canopy and a goggle camera eye.
How big is it?
Fighter mode: 19.62 m long, 15.36 m span, 4.04 m tall.
Weight: 9,340 kg empty, 210 kg under the YF-21.
What this collection covers
Two HG 1/100 kits, Maximilian Jenius Use and Milia Farina Jenius Use, as the pair appear on the Macross 7 fleet.
