High-school student Futaro Uesugi is hired as a private tutor for the quintuplets Ichika, Nino, Miku, Yotsuba and Itsuki Nakano, and the story is told in flashback as an adult Futaro prepares to marry one of the sisters, whose identity is revealed only near the end of the series.
