Gundam merchandise at P-Rex Hobby covers Gunpla (Gundam plastic model kits), finished action figures and die-cast robots, prize figures and the Gundam Card Game. Gunpla began in July 1980 with a 1/144 scale RX-78-2 Gundam, and Bandai Hobby says Gunpla are planned, developed and produced in Japan at the Bandai Hobby Center in Shizuoka.

What is Gunpla?

Gunpla is short for Gundam plastic model. Bandai Hobby defines it as plastic model kits of the mobile suits, mobile armors, battleships and other mechanics from the Mobile Suit Gundam series. The first one, a 1/144 scale RX-78-2 Gundam, came out in July 1980.

What is the difference between HG, RG, MG and PG?

They are Gunpla grades. HG and RG kits are mostly 1/144 scale, with RG adding finer detail and more parts; MG kits are 1/100 and PG kits are 1/60. Entry Grade is the simplest place to start. Our Gunpla grade guide compares them side by side.

Which Gundam kit should a beginner buy?

Both are finished Tamashii Nations figures, no building needed. THE ROBOT SPIRITS are robot figures for adult collectors, sculpted with CAD and finished by craftsmen. METAL BUILD is the premium line that blends Chogokin die-cast know-how with designer arrangements of each mecha.
