Asuka Langley Soryu is the Second Child of Neon Genesis Evangelion, created by Gainax: the fiery pilot of Evangelion Unit-02 who fights the Angels for Nerv alongside Shinji Ikari. In the Rebuild of Evangelion films she becomes Asuka Shikinami Langley, first appearing in Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance (2009) with a reworked background, which is why her figures come in both TV-series and Rebuild designs.

How to choose an Asuka figure
Start with the version you want: the TV-series Asuka Langley Soryu or the Rebuild-era Asuka Shikinami Langley; product titles name the film or version. Prize figures (SEGA, Ichibansho, Q posket) are pre-painted, fixed-pose and the most affordable way into a good sculpt. Nendoroid and S.H.Figuarts are articulated for posing. PLAMAX, PLAMATEA and 30MP are snap-fit kits you build yourself. 1/6 and 1/7 scale statues are the display centrepieces. Availability changes as makers reissue and retire items, so check each product page for the current status.
