Discover the Valom C-46 Model Kit - a tribute to the largest reciprocating engine twin-engine aircraft in history. With its first flight in 1940 and production spanning from 1942 to 1945, a total of 3,181 units of this remarkable aircraft were manufactured. It played a pivotal role as a U.S. military transport aircraft during the Pacific War in World War II, notably in the "hump crossing" missions from 1942, which involved transporting goods from Assam in British India to Kumming in the Republic of China across the challenging terrain of the Himalayas. The C-46 was later adopted by the U.S. Marine Corps as the R5C and served in various capacities including in the Korean War, air transport operations during the Berlin blockade, the early stages of the Vietnam War, and was also provided to the Japan Air Self-Defense Force and the Republic of China Air Force. Remarkably, several units of this aircraft sold to the private sector continue to serve as transport aircraft in Canada and other countries. This kit is a completely new mold, ensuring a detailed and accurate representation of this historic aircraft. Decals for two versions are included, allowing you to customize your model.
