Originally designated as the IS-8 before being renamed, the T-10 was a formidable presence on the battlefield, developed in the early 1950s. With around 1500 units produced, its primary firepower came from a 122mm M-62-Ts (2A17) rifled gun, complemented by a 14.5mm KPVT coaxial machine gun and an anti-aircraft machine gun for secondary defense. The T-10M was not only a powerhouse in terms of armament but also featured advanced technology for its time, including infrared night vision equipment for both the loader and the commander, and an NBC (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical) protection system. Powered by a robust 750hp V-12-6 diesel engine, it boasted a top speed of 50km/h and an operational range of 350km, with a combat weight of 51 tons. This tank played a significant role in Operation Danube during the invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968 and was finally retired from service in 1993.
