- From the manufacturer: The Polikarpov I-153 was the pinnacle of the NN Polikarpov design bureau's series of biplane fighters. Featuring a distinctive gull-shaped upper wing, a retractable chassis for improved aerodynamics, and equipped with four ShKAS machine guns for enhanced firepower. Initially powered by M-62 radial engines, later models boasted the more powerful M-63 engines. The I-153 took to the skies for its maiden flight in August 1938, marking the beginning of its storied history. Between 1939 and 1941, a total of 3,437 planes were produced, each contributing to its legendary status.
