Discover the all-new tooling of the Wildcat, now featuring the mid/late-war Eastern Aircraft-built FM-1 version! This model is a must-have for enthusiasts, offering a detailed comparison to Big T’s kit and standing up impressively well. With its petite and recessed surface detail, including all rivets, this kit follows the trend of recent Chinese models, ensuring an authentic look. The wing panel lines are crafted to accurately represent a FM-1, enhancing the model's realism.
The cockpit design is historically accurate, lacking a floor and instead featuring just foot troughs. Although the fuel tank under the cockpit is omitted (similar to Big T’s version), this can be easily remedied with a bit of creativity using sheet styrene to prevent a "see through" effect through the lower windows. This kit also includes both intercoolers, marking an improvement over previous versions, though they may not be visible without close inspection. Underwing drop tanks are also provided, adding to the model's versatility, even if historically they were not fitted to -3s. These can be stored for future projects or used to fill in the lower wing holes.
Markings are available for a tricolor aircraft of VC-33 off the Nassau and an Atlantic-schemed aircraft of VC-12 off the USS Core, allowing for customization and historical accuracy in your model display.
