Discover the latest model of the Wildcat, now featuring the pre-war/early-war solid-wing -3 version! This model stands out for its meticulous attention to detail, especially when compared to Big T’s kit. Here's why it's a must-have for model enthusiasts and fans of naval aviation:
- All surface detail is finely crafted and recessed, showcasing the trend of recent Chinese kits with precision. This includes all rivets for an authentic look.
- The panel lines on the wing are accurately represented for the -3 version, enhancing the model's realism.
- The cockpit is designed without a floor, true to historical accuracy, featuring just foot troughs. Although the fuel tank under the cockpit is not included (similar to Big T’s kit), this can be easily remedied with a bit of creativity using sheet styrene to prevent a "see through" effect through the lower windows.
- Both intercoolers are included, marking an improvement in the model's design. While they may not be visible unless closely inspected, their inclusion adds to the model's authenticity.
- Underwing drop tanks are also provided. While historically not fitted to -3 versions, they make a great addition to your spares box, allowing for customization.
- The model comes with markings for two distinct versions: a colorful "yellow wing" Wildcat of VF-72 off the USS Wasp, and a gray aircraft of VMF-111 with red crosses applied during the 1941 war games, offering variety and historical significance.
