The Leopard 2A4M CAN, an upgraded version of the Leopard 2A4, is now available for model enthusiasts and collectors. Originally acquired from the Royal Netherlands Army surplus, this Canadian variant was specifically redesigned for operations in Afghanistan, reflecting the real-world experiences of Leopard 2 operators. With the first batch of 20 units delivered in October 2010, and a limited deployment in Afghanistan towards the end of the same year, this model represents a significant piece of modern military history.
Despite initial plans to upgrade the armament to the L55 gun for consistency with the 2A6M CAN, the decision was made to retain the L44 due to the operational challenges in Afghanistan. This model also features selective slat armor enhancements, unlike the fully caged 2A6M CANs, and boasts applique armor similar to the latest Leopard 2A7+ variant, adapted to fit the 2A4's turret configuration.
This detailed kit is designed for the discerning collector, molded in a combination of green, black, and clear plastic. It also includes photo-etched parts and decals to ensure a realistic and satisfying building experience.
