Introducing the Akitsu Maru model kit, a stunning replica of the I.J.N landing craft depot ship and escort aircraft carrier. This historically significant ship is considered to be the first amphibious assault ship, featuring a flight deck above the hull. The aircraft were stored below the flight deck on the original main deck, adding to the authenticity of this model. Completed in January 1942, the Akitsu Maru played a crucial role in the Java landing operation in February of the same year. In 1943, it was even equipped with the Kayaba Ka-1 autogyro for anti-submarine uses. Unfortunately, the Akitsu Maru met its end in November 1944 when it was sunk by the submarine Queenfish during the Philippines operation.
