Y-Wing Starfighter

The BTL Y-wing is the Rebel Alliance's assault starfighter and bomber, built by Koensayr Manufacturing and first drawn up for the Republic in the Clone Wars.

What it does in the story

Gold Squadron flies Y-wings on the first attack run at Yavin, and Y-wing units are in the rebel formation at Endor.

What makes it different

  • Armour and engines over agility. Two nacelles and exposed piping make a bulky airframe that trades manoeuvring for taking hits.
  • A turret behind the cockpit. Twin ion cannons sit in a rotating turret, run by a gunner or from the cockpit.
  • Bombs as well as guns. Two forward laser cannons and a pair of proton torpedo launchers with six rounds each.

  • Full size: 16.24 m long, 8.54 m wide and 2.44 m tall.
  • 1/72 kit: At 1/72, that is roughly 226 mm long.
