XXXG-01S Shenlong Gundam

XXXG-01S Shenlong Gundam is the close-combat machine of Mobile Suit Gundam Wing (1995, After Colony 195), built by Master O in the L5 colony cluster and flown by Chang Wufei. It is listed at 16.4 m and armoured in gundanium alloy.

What it does in the story

Wufei named the suit Nataku after his wife Meilan Long, who died of her injuries defending the colony in the Tallgeese Zi-Long while the Shenlong was still being finished. It fought across China and India after his drop in April A.C. 195, and was built for ground combat rather than space. Disabled at OZ's lunar base, it was rebuilt as the XXXG-01S2 Altron Gundam.

What makes it different

• The joints were built to throw a strike. Master O specialises in drive systems, and the articulation is wide enough to reproduce Chinese martial arts. Fighting Ability is 160 in the Wing listing, against 110 for weapons.
• The right arm ends in a dragon's head. The Dragon Fang flips forward from the right forearm, and segments folded into the shoulder let the claw reach out at medium range. Flamethrowers in its sides let it seize and burn a target.
• It carries a self-destruct charge. A cockpit detonator overloads the power system with enough force to level several city blocks. The claw came later; the arm was first drawn as standard.
