XXXG-01Wfr Gundam Fenice Rinascita

XXXG-01Wfr Gundam Fenice Rinascita is Ricardo Fellini's Gunpla in Gundam Build Fighters (2013–14). It is the rebuilt form of his Wing Gundam Fenice, which was wrecked when he lost the semi-final to the Qubeley Papillon. Both halves of the name are Italian: fenice for phoenix, rinascita for rebirth.

What it does in the story

The machine is finished in time for the closing rounds and appears in the last three episodes of the series. The rebuild is the reason it exists at all: Fellini keeps repairing and improving the same Gunpla instead of replacing it, and the name marks that habit.

What makes it different

  • The asymmetry is gone. The earlier Fenice was built lopsided, with different parts on the two sides. The Rinascita drops that entirely and carries new custom parts over the whole body, so the two machines do not read as the same build with new paint.
  • Flight mode comes back. The upgrade restores a transformation the earlier machine had lost, giving it a flight form for high-speed travel. The wing shield becomes the nose of that form, and the missiles stored in the white sections of the wings are mainly used while it is flying.
  • The rifle separates into three weapons. The Buster Rifle Custom splits into a Buster Rifle on top and a smaller rifle underneath, and that lower unit divides again into a handgun and a beam saber. The saber works as a bayonet on the rifle or on its own, and its blade will cut through another beam saber's edge.
  • The shoulders carry beam shields. A beam mantle on each shoulder functions like a beam shield and can be driven into a punch. The wing shield is solid rather than a beam, and in suit mode it can be launched on its own to scout ahead.

How big is it?

  • Overall height: 16.3 m according to the HGBF kit manual, the same figure listed for the earlier Fenice
  • 1/144: roughly 11.3 cm on the listed height, and the finished kit sits about a head taller than the earlier Fenice
  • 1/100: roughly 16.3 cm on the same basis

Frequently asked questions

1. Is the Fenice Rinascita a repaint of the Wing Gundam Fenice?

No. It is the rebuilt and upgraded form of the same Gunpla after the semi-final loss, with new parts across the body and the transformation restored.

2. What happened to the original Fenice?

It was severely damaged in the semi-final against the Qubeley Papillon. The Rinascita is what came out of the rebuild.

3. Why is it named after a phoenix?

Fellini kept rebuilding and improving the machine instead of replacing it, and the name is a reference to that. Rinascita, rebirth, makes the same point twice.

4. How tall is it actually?

The HGBF manual lists 16.3 m, the same as the earlier Fenice, but the finished kit stands about a head taller than its predecessor, which works out closer to 18 m.
