Tohoku Zunko

Tohoku Zunko is a voice-bank character released by AH-Software for the VOICEROID software in 2012. She was created to support the Tohoku region after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami, and her design is built on zunda-mochi, the green soybean sweet of the region.

What makes Tohoku Zunko stand out

  • A regional mascot with a voice. She began as a text-to-speech voice for Tohoku, and a successful crowdfunding campaign paid for a Vocaloid 3 voice bank released in June 2014.
  • A family, not a solo act. She has an older sister, Itako, a younger sister, Kiritan, and a pet named Zundamon, all of whom have their own releases.
  • Built for builders. The Plafia releases are 1/12 scale plastic kits that need assembly, with parts moulded in colour.
