TIE Advanced x1

The TIE Advanced x1 is Darth Vader's personal starfighter, a Sienar prototype that fixes the standard TIE's two weaknesses: it has deflector shields and a Class 4 hyperdrive.

What it does in the story

Vader flies it in A New Hope, leading the squadron at the first Death Star.

What makes it different

• Shielded, unlike a TIE. The x1 has deflector shields where the TIE/ln has none.
• It can leave on its own. A Class 4 hyperdrive means no capital ship has to carry it.
• The bent-wing silhouette. The panels sweep back, and at 5.8 m the fighter is shorter than the 7.24 m standard TIE.

How big is it?

• Full size: 5.8 m long, 6.2 m wide, 3.8 m tall.
• 1/72 kit: Wings moulded in two plastic layers, with two canopy options.
• Vehicle Model 007: A palm-sized two-craft set.
