STH-05/AC Hyakuren is the machine Amida Arca flies in Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans (2015, Post Disaster), built by Teiwaz for the Turbines. It is one of the nine original Hyakurens, listed at 18.2 m with a dry weight of 35.5 t.
What it does in the story
Teiwaz presented its first nine Hyakurens, the Single Number machines, to nine subsidiaries that answered directly to the organisation; the Turbines received one, which Naze Turbine assigned to Amida and had repainted. It fought in the Turbines' first skirmish with Tekkadan and in the ambush of the Brewers pirates, and was later rebuilt into one of two STH-05R Rouei machines, then restored as a Hyakuren.
What makes it different
-
Jupiter Metal separates it from a plain Hyakuren.
The nine Single Number machines use high-purity Jupiter Metal in the Ahab Reactor and the frame, giving better reaction speed and higher output than later Hyakurens.
-
The heavy armour is a workplace decision.
Hyakurens worked the asteroid belt and debris fields, so the plating is thick and the machine takes knocks a lighter suit could not. In a fight, that weight becomes strength.
-
Its close-combat weapon shocks what it hits.
A pair of JEE-203 Knuckle Guards stow under the side skirt armour and are held in the hands, delivering an electric shock on contact. The JEE-202 single-edged blade rides on the rear skirt.
How big is it?
- Overall height: 18.2 m, with a dry weight of 35.5 t
- 1/144: roughly 12.6 cm, the scale of the High Grade kit

Frequently asked questions
1. Why is Amida's Hyakuren a different colour from other Hyakurens?
Naze Turbine assigned the machine to Amida Arca and had it painted in the Turbines' scheme. The airframe was one of nine Single Number units.
2. What makes a Single Number Hyakuren different?
High-purity Jupiter Metal is used in the Ahab Reactor's shock absorbers and the frame's conductors, which lifts reaction speed and output. Otherwise it matches later machines.
3. What are the Knuckle Guards?
A pair of hand-held close-combat weapons stored under the side skirt armour. They shock whatever they touch.
