Sleggar Law

Sleggar Law is a lieutenant in the Earth Federation's 13th Autonomous Corps in Mobile Suit Gundam (1979, U.C. 0079). He comes aboard White Base as it leaves Jaburo for space: an experienced aerospace pilot and gunnery officer dropped into a crew of teenagers.

What it does in the story

He works the ship's main gun in the exchange with the Zanzibar and lands the only direct hit of that action, then flies the G-Fighter through the Solomon campaign. When Dozle Zabi's Big Zam breaks the Federation line, Sleggar takes the G-Armor in close enough for its weapons to count, and does not come back from the attack.

What makes it different

• He is a gunner and pilot, not a Gundam pilot. His record in the series is built on the G-Fighter, the G-Armor and the ship's battery, while the Gundam stays Amuro's machine. The Origin is the version that puts him in a GM and a Guntank earlier in the war.
• The white normal suit is his. In episode 31 he wears a white custom normal suit with an S emblem on the ear of the helmet, and the colour switches to blue from episode 32. The S is his personal emblem, later given a backstory in which a brightly winged bird of prey grips it.
