Sinou Gundam

Sinou Gundam is the awakened form of Wara Star in Chou SD Sengokuden: Bushin Kirahagane, the eighth Musha Gundam series, and its design is based on the Gundam X. Bandai put it out as BB Senshi No. 166.

What it does in the story

Wara Star spends most of the story on the enemy side, raised by the villain Jarei to believe the Gundam army killed his father. When his brother and a close friend pull him free of the Dark Marshal he awakens as Sinou Gundam, and the moon's power he carries becomes the army's answer to the Dark Marshal's forces.

What makes it different

  • It is a Gundam X at heart. The Bushin Kirahagane line builds its characters on existing Gundam types, and Sinou takes the Gundam X as its base. The moon-themed cannon equipment is designed around that machine.
  • Four pieces combine into one heavy cannon. The Moonlight Cannon, the backpack, the Moonlight Star and the Buster Tanegashima fit together into the Gekkou Buster, a single cannon meant for fortified targets. For close work the suit carries the Star Sword Galaxy.
  • It is the awakened Wara Star, not a new machine. Sinou is not a separate suit built for the other side. It is what Wara Star becomes once he is separated from the Dark Marshal, which is why the two share a body, a story arc and a kit lineage.

Frequently asked questions

1. Is Sinou Gundam a hero or a villain?

He starts as the enemy. Wara Star is raised by Jarei to fight the Gundam army, and only becomes Sinou after his brother and a close friend free him of the Dark Marshal. From that point he fights alongside the army.

2. Why is the name spelled both Sinou and Shin-oh?

The Japanese name is written 新凰頑駄無 and read Shin-oh. English-language listings spell it Sinou, so the same machine appears under both spellings depending on the release.

3. Is this the Gundam X from After War Gundam X?

No. Sinou only uses the Gundam X as a design base, the way the Musha line reworks existing suits into samurai characters. It is a character in the SD Sengokuden story.
