Shin Asakura

Shin Asakura is the deuteragonist of Sakamoto Days, Yuto Suzuki's manga in Weekly Shonen Jump. He is a former hitman sent to kill Taro Sakamoto who lost the fight and stayed on as an employee of the family's neighbourhood store.

What makes Shin Asakura stand out

• He hears the room. Shin reads minds across roughly 400 metres, tuning in the way a radio finds a station and picking people out by their emotional state. In a fight he knows the intent behind a movement before it lands.
• The power has edges. A mind that is too loud overwhelms the reading, and anything blocking electromagnetic waves shuts him out, which is why his partner Natsuki Seba's hood makes Seba unreadable.
• Trained, then retired sideways. He came through the JCC and worked as a hitman before the store, so the skill set stays: speed, close combat, and the habit of reading a room before entering it.
• Apron first. Most of the time he is drawn in a collared shirt and green apron, 172 cm and blond, which is the contrast the series plays against its fight scenes.
