Sanrio

Sanrio is a Japanese entertainment company that designs, licenses and manufactures products focused on the kawaii ("cute") segment of Japanese popular culture. It has created over 450 characters, most of them anthropomorphized animals, including Hello Kitty, created in 1974.

Main characters

• Hello Kitty: a white cat with a red bow and no visible mouth, created in 1974 and owned by Sanrio.
• Cinnamoroll: a white puppy with long ears and a tail that resembles a cinnamon roll, created by Sanrio in 2001.

Sanrio figure lines

• MAX LIMITED: character mascots and plush, including Pote Koro, Hug Character Collection and Fuwa Kororin, the bulk of the collection.
• TOPTOY: blind boxes.
• Bandai: Banpresto prize figures, Shokugan and lifestyle goods.
• Mighty Jaxx: figures, blind boxes and art displays.
• Other makers: Piapro.net MAX, Tamashii Nations, MegaHouse, Good Smile Company Nendoroid Doll and nanoblock sets.

How to choose

Banpresto prize figures are pre-painted, fixed-pose and the most affordable way into a good sculpt. Blind boxes hold one random design from a series, while MAX LIMITED mascots and plush suit a bag, desk or gift. Mighty Jaxx figures and art displays are made for the shelf. Product titles name the character and series. Availability changes as makers reissue and retire items, so check each product page for the current status.
