RX-零 RX-Zeromaru is a Gunpla rather than a service machine: an SD-scale kit built and flown by Aya Fujisawa, who fights as Ayame, in Gundam Build Divers (2018). It is based on the SD version of the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam, assembled around a single idea — a Unicorn Gundam crossed with a ninja.

What it does in the story

Ayame flies it from early in the series and keeps developing it. After the first Coalition of Volunteers battle she rebuilds it to mark a break with her past, with metal nozzles, new plastic at every joint, most of the black repainted white, and the edges sharpened.

What makes it different

  • Its two forms read the Unicorn's modes as ninja skills. Shinobi Form takes Destroy Mode as its motif and turns the small SD proportions into mobility so extreme that the Gunpla can leave copies of itself. Kakure Form takes Unicorn Mode, adding camouflage and stronger sensors.
  • Real Mode changes proportions, not attachments. Docking with the bird-shaped Armed Armor Hattori turns the SD Gunpla into realistic proportions. This is the Gunpla's true form, and it brings powers closer to the Unicorn Gundam's.
  • Real Mode runs its own version of the NT-D. The Ninto-Do System, abbreviated NT-D like the Unicorn's, releases the Gunpla's full power for a limited time: Psycho-Frame performance climbs and the pilot can seize enemy remote weapons.
  • The shield is also a shuriken. The shields combine into a large shuriken that doubles as a twin-bladed sword, and Real Mode can wrap it in red beam energy and throw it.

  • Overall height: 14.4 m in Shinobi Form according to Bandai's official spec
  • Kit: the kit is labelled 1/144, but it is an SD design, so it stands far shorter than a true scale model
