RX-78/C.A Casval's Gundam on video

RX-78/C.A Casval's Gundam

RX-78/C.A. Casval's Gundam is a custom mobile suit that debuts in the video game Gihren's Greed rather than in a film. Neo Zeon built it for Casval Rem Deikun, the name Char Aznable took back in one parallel timeline, finished in the red of his earlier machines.

What it does in the story

In that timeline Casval sets the Aznable name aside near the end of the One Year War and leads a new Neo Zeon, separate from the Axis Neo Zeon of the later series, against the Principality of Zeon for his Newtype ideals. It was built as the movement's symbol, and the game's records have it meeting the RX-78-2.

What makes it different

  • Two militaries' technology share one frame. Neo Zeon drew on engineering from both the Earth Federation and the Principality of Zeon, keeping the RX-78-2's 18.0 m frame and Core Block System. The tuning is what separates them.
  • The shield is ten tons of layered armour. It spreads and absorbs impact rather than resisting it rigidly, with a triple honeycomb layer over a luna titanium base. It can be hand-carried, forearm-mounted or hung on the backpack.
  • The beam saber unfolds into a javelin. Two sabers sit in the backpack, so one can be kept in reserve or both swung together. Either converts into a beam javelin with a longer handle and several blades.

How big is it?

  • Overall height: 18.0 m, 60.0 t loaded against 43.4 t dry
  • 1/144: roughly 12.5 cm, the scale of the Real Grade

Frequently asked questions

1. Is Casval's Gundam from a TV series?

No. It first appears in Gihren's Greed, where a parallel timeline has Casval leading his own Neo Zeon at the war's end.

2. How does it compare with the RX-78-2?

Same frame and Core Block System, but Neo Zeon tuned it to Casval using technology from both sides of the war, giving better mobility and reaction speed.

3. What is a beam javelin?

An alternate saber form with an extended handle and several blades at the tip. The extra reach helps in close quarters, and it can be thrown.
