Ritsu Tainaka

Ritsu Tainaka, nicknamed Ricchan by Yui, drums in the light music club of K-On! and appoints herself its president. She leads the band Hokago Tea Time and is more extroverted and theatrical than Yui.

What makes Ritsu Tainaka stand out

• She picked drums for the wrong reason. Ritsu says she chose the drums because they looked cool, then admits that instruments needing fine fingerwork give her trouble. She plays a yellow Rick Marotta Signature Yamaha Hipgig kit with Avedis Zildjian cymbals.
• President, bad at paperwork. The title is self-awarded. She forgets forms, misses announcements and gets scolded by Mio and Nodoka, but she is also the one who dreams up the schemes that keep the club funded.
• Mio's oldest problem. The two have been friends since childhood, and teasing Mio when she panics is close to a hobby. Ritsu is possessive enough to spy on Mio's outings with other friends.
