PMX-003 The O

PMX-003 The-O is Paptimus Scirocco's personal mobile suit in Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam (1985–1986, U.C. 0087–0088) and the fourth of five machines he built aboard the Jupitris. It is a Titans machine and he flies it himself.

What it does in the story

The-O appears in the last days of the conflict, during negotiations aboard the Axis flagship Gwadan. After Scirocco turns on Jamitov Hymem and takes the Titans, he uses it against Haman Karn's Qubeley, and at the Battle of Gryps it faces Kamille Bidan's Zeta Gundam.

What makes it different

  • It carries four beam swords, and the arms to use them. Two beam swords sit in each side skirt armour. The hands hold two and thin three-fingered sub-arms behind the front skirt take the other two, so all four blades can be out at once.
  • The bio-sensor lets the pilot push past the rating. It is a Psycommu derivative from Anaheim Electronics that lets a Newtype control the suit by thought, and it can amplify power, speed and strength for a burst when the pilot is shaken.
  • The armour is meant to eat beam fire. The plating takes direct hits from the Qubeley's funnels, and fifty vernier thrusters keep a 57.3 t machine moving like something far lighter.
  • Only Scirocco can fly it. The control system was developed around his spatial awareness and the interface is tuned to him alone, so no other pilot is recorded in the machine.

1. Why is The-O so much taller than other Gryps Conflict mobile suits?

It is listed at 28.4 m overall against roughly 18–20 m for the standard machines of the period. The bulk is used: propellant rides in the body and skirt armour to extend operating time.

2. How does one mobile suit use four beam swords at once?

Through the sub-arms. Two blades go in the hands and two in the small sub-arms behind the front skirt, which makes The-O a close-quarters machine despite carrying almost nothing else.

3. Is The-O's bio-sensor the same system as the Zeta Gundam's Biosensor?

No. The-O's unit is a Psycommu derivative from Anaheim Electronics; the Zeta Gundam's device is a separate, unrelated system.

4. Does The-O carry funnels or other remote weapons?

It does not. Its armament is four beam swords and a custom beam rifle that fires with the power of a mega launcher.
