Musha Gundam Mk-II

Musha Gundam Mk-II is the samurai-armoured machine Hajime Katoki redesigned for the Dynasty Warriors Gundam games, where it appears in Titans colours as the Musha Gundam's partner. Katejina Loos and Ple Two fly it there. Bandai's kit is the Master Grade 1/100, also issued in armour named for Tokugawa Ieyasu.

What it does in the story

It is a partner unit rather than a lead, joining the roster in Dynasty Warriors Gundam and its 2008 sequels beside the Musha Gundam. It carries no story of its own in the games beyond that pairing, and its lines were recorded by Kohei Fukuhara.

What makes it different

  • The Mk-II in the name is a lineage label, not a Gundam Mk-II conversion. Musha naming borrows Zeta Gundam's convention for a successor machine, so Mk-II means the next Musha Gundam rather than a samurai version of the RX-178. Katoki's redesign then repaints it in Titans colours.
  • It fights with two katana and a naginata rather than a beam sabre. The Kotetsumaru katana cut in one swing without drawing on the suit's generator, a contrast the design notes make directly against beam sabres. The Senkoumaru naginata rides on its back for reach.
  • A Venus Drive sits in its equipment list. The device lifts performance when the person at the controls is a woman, and the games put Katejina Loos and Ple Two in the cockpit.

Frequently asked questions

1. Is the Musha Gundam Mk-II a version of the RX-178?

No. It is a Musha design in samurai armour, and Mk-II marks it as the successor to the Musha Gundam. Its proportions, horns and weapons are its own.

2. What is the Nanban-Dogusoku version?

A Master Grade release finished in the armour style named for Tokugawa Ieyasu, tied to Nikko Toshogu and dated 2024. The plain MG 1/100 is the same machine without that finish.

3. How many blades does it carry?

Two Kotetsumaru katana and one Senkoumaru naginata, plus a Shoryumaru beam rifle among its handheld weapons.
