MSN-06S-2 Sinanju Stein is a prototype Psycho-Frame machine from Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative (2018, U.C. 0097), flown by Zoltan Akkanen of the Republic of Zeon. Anaheim Electronics built two test units under the development code Stein 01 to prove out the Psycho-Frame, the Sleeves stole both of them, and this is the one that was not rebuilt into the Sinanju.
What it does in the story
Zoltan leads a Republic of Zeon team working under Sleeves colours in Operation Phoenix Hunt, chasing the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam 03 Phenex. Searching the colony Metis from the air, his Stein runs into the Shezarr Unit's Narrative Gundam B-Packs and fights it through the colony, then the Phenex arrives and knocks the Stein down. Zoltan later docks it with the II Neo Zeong before a final run at the Phenex.
What makes it different
-
It was built to test a frame, not to fight a war.
The two Steins existed to check how the Psycho-Frame held up and how far it could be pushed. That is why the cockpit carries both the frame itself and an Intention Automatic System, which turns a Newtype pilot's thoughts straight into the suit's movement instead of routing them through manual controls.
-
The engraved trim is what identifies this unit.
The second unit came out of Sleeves hands covered in decorative engraving, and that trim is the root of the name the organisation took for itself. It is the thing that marks this machine out from the plain test unit it was built as.
-
The rifle is a beam rifle in a jacket.
The High Beam Rifle takes the Sinanju's rifle as its base and adds jacket parts around it, ending up far bulkier than the weapon it came from. A bazooka or a grenade launcher hangs under the barrel, though the bazooka round loses some muzzle velocity in that configuration.
-
The shield is bolted to the forearm instead of gripped.
It is mounted on the left arm rather than gripped in a hand, with the tip reshaped from the shield the original Stein carried and Anaheim's AE logo taken off. The grenade launcher fits on the back of the shield as well as under the rifle.
How big is it?
- Overall height: 22.6 m
- 1/144: roughly 15.7 cm
- 1/100: roughly 22.6 cm

Frequently asked questions
1. Is the Sinanju Stein the same machine as the Sinanju?
No, they are two different units from the same test programme. The Sleeves took both, rebuilt one into the MSN-06S Sinanju as their flagship, and left the other as the MSN-06S-2 with its engravings.
2. How does the MSN-06S-2 differ from the original Sinanju Stein?
The -2 carries longer external propellant tanks closer to the Sinanju's, and a shield whose tip was reshaped from the original Stein's with the AE logo stripped off. Its High Beam Rifle is built on the Sinanju's beam rifle and adds jacket parts around it.
3. Who piloted the Sinanju Stein in Gundam Narrative?
Zoltan Akkanen, an officer of the Republic of Zeon who commands the operation and treats the hunt for the Phenex as a personal contest.
4. What is the Intention Automatic System?
A control system that reads a Newtype pilot's thoughts and applies them directly to the mobile suit's motion. It cuts the delay that comes with moving the machine by hand, and the Stein was fitted with it from the start.
