MBF-P02 Gundam Astray Red Dragon

MBF-P02 Gundam Astray Red Dragon is a configuration of the Junk Guild's Red Frame, built up by Lowe Guele for the photo-novel Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny Astray R (Cosmic Era 73). It keeps the Red Frame's number because the changes go onto that same airframe: a flight unit, three Caletvwlchs and a new head. Lowe builds and flies it himself.

What it does in the story

Lowe first takes the Red Dragon out in a mock battle against Rondo Mina Sahaku and her Gold Frame Amatsu Mina, a test she asked for to see what the Caletvwlch could do. He uses the tools' Mirage Colloid particles to break her stealth and then to read her movements before she attacks. She orders a hundred Caletvwlchs once the bout ends.

What makes it different

• The name comes from how the tools sit on the flight unit. The three Caletvwlchs mount on the flight pack in positions that read as a dragon's wings and tail. The Ddraig Head was designed to work with them, with better sensors and a beam antenna that throws different shapes from behind the V-fin.
• The Caletvwlch is a tool before it is a weapon. It cuts and induction-welds with a short cutter, a long knife and a torch, and only fights once its limiter is released by voice command, which runs against the rules on armed civilian mobile suits. In gun mode the torch works as a beam rifle.
• Full disable mode costs you the tool. Ignoring the safety limit lets a Caletvwlch dump a dangerous amount of energy into one shot, enough to destroy a target outright, but the unit is wrecked afterwards. Lowe spends all three of the Red Dragon's that way in one three-against-one fight.
