LM312V04 Victory Gundam — V Gundam or V1 — is the title machine of Mobile Suit Victory Gundam (1993, U.C. 0153). The League Militaire built it under the Victory Project as a symbol of resistance to the Zanscare Empire. Üso Ewin pilots it until he moves to the Victory 2.
What it does in the story
The League Militaire fields the V Gundam because the Federation will not commit against Zanscare. Parts came from separate factories, so the number built is unknown; the estimate is parts for at least twenty machines, making it a production model rather than a prototype.
What makes it different
It comes apart into three machines.
The Core Block System puts the cockpit in a Core Fighter, which joins a Top Limb and a Bottom Limb. Either half can fly with the Core Fighter alone, and damaged blocks swap out mid-battle.
It hovers instead of spending thrust on lift.
The Minovsky Flight system is a suit-sized simplification of the Minovsky craft. It holds the machine at any altitude on reactor power, leaving the rockets free to manoeuvre.
The beam rifle is built around a pistol.
The rifle is modular: sections can be purged in the field to leave a small beam pistol that fires faster but only works at close range.
The beam shields are part of the frame.
One sits in each forearm on a generator that pivots about 180 degrees, and a shield can open to 150–200 m briefly to cover a warship. Four beam sabers are racked in the forearms.
How big is it?
Head height: 15.2 m according to Bandai's official spec
1/144: roughly 10.6 cm
1/100: roughly 15.2 cm

Frequently asked questions
1. How does the Core Block System work?
The cockpit sits in a Core Fighter that docks with an upper and a lower body. Either half can fly with the Core Fighter alone, giving the Top Fighter and the Bottom Fighter.
2. What is the Victory Gundam Hexa?
A variant with antennae on the sides of the head instead of the V-fin. Marbet Fingerhat's Hexa was later refitted with a V-fin after Üso moved to the Victory 2.
3. Why are the head vulcans only 25 mm?
The 60 mm vulcans of earlier suits are too large for a machine this small. The 25 mm cannons carry less ammunition and fire more slowly, with fire control making up the accuracy.
4. Which V Gundam kits does the collection cover?
The 1/144 HGUC release and the 1/100 Master Grade Ver.Ka.
