Kazuma Kiryu

Kazuma Kiryu is the lead of Sega's Yakuza series, which the company now releases as Like a Dragon, from the 2005 debut game onward. He is known as the Dragon of Dojima.

What makes Kazuma Kiryu stand out

• The nickname is on his back. A dragon is tattooed across Kiryu's back, and the name comes from the Dojima Family, the Tojo Clan subsidiary he belonged to before the first game begins.
• Ten years for someone else's crime. He took the blame for his boss's death so his sworn brother Akira Nishikiyama would stay clear, and he serves the sentence before the story proper starts.
• Four stances. In Yakuza 0 he switches between Brawler, Rush, Beast and the Dragon of Dojima style, each with its own move set and its own way of handling a crowd.
• The orphanage in Okinawa. In Yakuza 3 he runs Morning Glory and raises nine children there, Haruka Sawamura among them; she becomes his adopted daughter.
