MBF-P05LM2 Gundam Astray Mirage Frame 2nd Issue

MBF-P05LM2 Gundam Astray Mirage Frame 2nd Issue is Rondo Gina Sahaku's machine in the photonovel Mobile Suit Gundam SEED VS Astray (2009–2011, Cosmic Era). Librarian Works rebuilt his Mirage Frame into this close-combat form after Gai Murakumo beat him, and Gina had his body modified before he could fly it.

What it does in the story

Its first sortie is unauthorised, and the Nebula Blitz Gundams sent to stop it are torn apart by the Brute Force Attack. Gina fights ND HE's Gale Strike Gundam to a stalemate, loses the rematch once Gai tricks him, then has the suit rebuilt as the 3rd Issue.

What makes it different

  • It goes down on four legs to fight. The suit stands in Tyrant Mode and switches to a quadrupedal Brute Mode built from data on the BuCUE and the Gaia Gundam. The new hip parts also speed up Tyrant Mode.
  • The Brute Head is a detachable second head. Carried on the back, it extends in Brute Mode and holds the melee sensors, two beam sabers and two saber fangs, and it can be fitted to another suit.
  • Its sword adjusts to what it has just hit. Amenohabakiri is built on data from the Gerbera Straight and the Tiger Pierce, and its VPS finish shifts after contact so the next strike is set for that target.

The A and B swords become C Sword A and B Types, fin rifles move to the shoulders, saber fangs to the back, and the transformation extends into Brute Mode.

2. What is the Brute Force Attack?

In Brute Mode it circles a target at very high speed and strikes at random angles, so the other pilot feels surrounded by several machines.

3. What does the Mirage Colloid do here?

Instead of cloaking the suit it works with the VPS armour to change its appearance so it can pass for other machines, while the head antenna senses cloaked units nearby.
