The Going Merry is the caravel that carried the Straw Hat Pirates through the East Blue and half the Grand Line in One Piece. Kaya's servant Merry designed her, and Kaya gave her to the crew.
What it does in the story
Transport, home, and once a weapon. She went up the Knock Up Stream to Skypiea, where the hull grew wings, and stayed afloat on tin plates patching the mast. At Water 7 the keel was found beyond repair; she still made Enies Lobby, then was burned at sea.
What makes it different
-
A sheep for a figurehead
The ram at the bow is where Luffy sits. The same head tops the steering pole in the lounge: with no wheel, the helm is a pole tilted left and right.
-
Four cannons, three tangerine trees
A cannon points forward, one aft and one to each side. The mikan trees planted after Arlong Park came from Bell-mère's grove.
-
A ship with a spirit
Usopp saw a figure repairing her at night with a blank, smiling face. Franky called it a Klabautermann, the spirit a ship grows when it is cared for.
How big is it?
- Length and height: 13 m long and 11 m tall, on the series' Vivre Card data.
