Gogeta is the fusion of Goku and Vegeta in Dragon Ball, produced by the Fusion Dance rather than the Potara earrings. He first appears in Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn, released in Japan in March 1995, where the dance works and he faces Janemba.
What makes Gogeta stand out
-
The dance has rules.
Two fighters of matching power perform a short symmetrical dance. Get the timing wrong and the result is Veku; a clean performance produces Gogeta.
-
Thirty minutes.
The fusion holds for thirty minutes and then splits back into two people, which is why his fights are written as races against the clock.
-
The clothes.
Fusion dresses the result in a Metamoran outfit: a vest with light trim, a sash, white trousers, a belt and boots. That vest separates a Gogeta from a Vegito.
-
Four forms.
Super Gogeta against Janemba in 1995, Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan Blue in Dragon Ball Super: Broly (2018), and Super Saiyan 4 in Dragon Ball GT against Omega Shenron.
