GNZ-003 Gadessa

GNZ-003 Gadessa is a bombardment mobile suit from season two of Mobile Suit Gundam 00 (2008, Anno Domini 2312), flown for A-Laws by the Innovades Revive Revival and Hiling Care. It belongs to the GNZ series, built from Gundam data held in Veda, and its main gun descends from the GN-005 Gundam Virtue.

What it does in the story

The type enters the season at its thirty-third episode and is still in use at the last, carrying the Innovators' long-range fire while their other machines close in. Its advantage is only partly the airframe: with Veda supporting it, the Gadessa is recorded as performing above ordinary mobile suits.

What makes it different

  • Its cannon comes out of the Virtue's bazooka. The GN Mega Launcher is a long-range beam cannon developed from the Virtue's GN Bazooka and improved over the version on the prototype GRM Gundam. Bombardment is why the suit exists.
  • The cockpit can leave as a Core Fighter. In an emergency the back armour is purged, the backpack and cockpit block eject, the block flips over and the Core Fighter flies off at speed. It is inherited from the GRM Gundam.
  • Its feet stay folded in flight. The feet normally sit folded and unfold only for ground contact, which is why the listed height changes between 24.8 m normally and 21.4 m in landing form.

How big is it?

  • Head height: 24.8 m in normal form, 21.4 m in landing form, according to Bandai's official spec
  • Weight: 60.4 t empty
  • 1/144: roughly 17.2 cm

Frequently asked questions

1. What counts as a Gadessa-series machine?

The GNZ-004 Gaga, GNZ-005 Garazzo and GNZ-007 Gaddess are often treated as Gadessa variants. They share the GNZ line that started with the GRM Gundam and was built from data stored in Veda.

2. Why are there two colour schemes?

Revive Revival and Hiling Care each had a Gadessa in their own colours. There is no performance difference between the two machines.

3. How does a GN Drive Tau machine use Trans-Am?

The Innovators built their own version after the spy Anew Returner brought Celestial Being's data back to them. It had previously been usable only by original GN Drive machines.
