GNT-0000/FS 00 QAN[T] Full Saber

GNT-0000/FS 00 Qan[T] Full Saber is the 00 Qan[T] carrying the GN Sword IV Full Saber, an optional unit with a Twin Drive stabilisation system built into the weapon. It comes from Mobile Suit Gundam 00V: Battlefield Record, prepared by Celestial Being's Ian Vashti.

What it does in the story

It has no battle in the animated story. Mission 014, titled Full Saber, is a simulation run on Veda after the ELS crisis by the mechanic Sherilyn Hyde. It came back with the ELS horde eliminated inside a single week, which made her recheck the data; she still noted that a real fight would depend on a pilot lasting that long.

What makes it different

  • The sword is the stabiliser. The GN Sword IV Full Saber was developed before the GN Sword V to hold the Twin Drive System steady if the two GN Drives proved incompatible. Fitting it renames the machine Full Saber.
  • It was finished and then never used. An activation test showed the 00 Qan[T]'s Twin Drive running stably on its own, so the sword was never fitted. The suit went into the ELS crisis and left for the ELS home world.
  • The sword breaks down into other weapons. Four parts, a Main Blade Unit, a Multi-mounter, a Main Grip Unit and three GN Gunblades, recombine into Full Saber, GN Launcher, Saber, Rifle and Katar Modes.
  • It balances the shield on the other side. The sword hangs from an arm on the right of a new back unit, with a cone-shaped thruster in the middle. The unit's left side carries the GN Shield, so the two balance.

How big is it?

  • Head height: 18.3 m according to Bandai's official spec
  • 1/144: roughly 12.7 cm, covering the HG00 and Real Grade kits
  • 1/100: roughly 18.3 cm

Frequently asked questions

1. Is the Full Saber a different mobile suit from the 00 Qan[T]?

No. It is the same GNT-0000 00 Qan[T] with the GN Sword IV Full Saber attached, and it takes the /FS suffix only while that unit is fitted.

2. Was it ever deployed?

No. It was built as insurance and the Twin Drive turned out stable without it, so the configuration stayed in the setting and in simulations.

3. What does the Twin Drive's output actually do?

Synchronising the two drives squares the particle output of a single GN Drive rather than doubling it, which is why the pair must be compatible.

4. Which kits cover it?

A 1/144 HG00 release from 2010, a Hobby Japan exclusive GN Sword IV in 2011, and a 1/144 Real Grade version from 2017.
