GN-010 Gundam Zabanya

GN-010 Gundam Zabanya is Celestial Being's ranged-combat Gundam in Mobile Suit Gundam 00 the Movie: A Wakening of the Trailblazer (2010, Anno Domini 2314). Lockon Stratos — Lyle Dylandy, the second man to carry that name — pilots it, and it reuses the frame design of the GN-006GNHW/R Cherudim Gundam GNHW/R.

What it does in the story

For the final battle of the 2314 ELS conflict it carries four more GN Holster Bits on movable arms at its back, each holding one extra bit weapon. They widen the shield it can raise and keep the barrage going longer; the job stays firing in every direction at once.

What makes it different

  • Its remote weapons are shields that carry guns. Ten GN Holster Bits ride either side of the rear-waist propulsion unit, each storing one GN Pistol Bit or GN Rifle Bit II. A bit fires as a rapid pistol or a longer-range rifle, and also works handheld.
  • Two Haros sit in the cockpit. Fire control for that many weapons was too complex for one pilot, so two AI Haros were added to assist Lockon. The Cherudim managed with a single Haro.
  • Its head opens into a sniper scope. A forehead crystal slides up and the V antenna slides down to expose a concealed precision sensor. Four more sit in the shoulders and legs, covered until needed.

1. Is this the same machine the first Lockon flew?

No. Neil Dylandy flew the GN-002 Dynames and then the GN-006 Cherudim. The Zabanya was built for his twin brother Lyle, a good shot but not the long-range specialist Neil was.

2. What is different about the Final Battle version?

It adds four GN Holster Bits on movable arms at the back, each holding one more pistol or rifle bit, which raises both its defensive coverage and how long it can keep firing.

3. Does the Zabanya appear outside the film?

Yes, in Gundam EXA and one episode of Gundam Build Divers. In EXA its weapons were still being adjusted, so it fought with the GN Arms Type-D.
